Project Description
PRESENTATION
ESA – European Space Agency – is an intergovernmental space agency coordinating space projects carried out jointly by some twenty European countries. It employs 5,000 people and has an annual budget of 6.49 billion euros.
THE MISSION
In 2019, ESA contacted Newsteo in connection with the transport of a robotic arm to be sent to the international space station. Ground transportation of this very valuable machine is critical. The arm has to be carried out to Baikonur, where the Russian Cosmodrome is located from where the robotic arm will be shipped to the ISS.
The goal? ESA must know and monitor how the train transport, between Moscow and Baikonur, is carried out.
RESULTS
The shock recorders recorded the temperature and the shocks during the entire transport period.
- No abnormal event was detected, the Newsteo Trackers helped the Product Assurance & Safety team to ensure that the transport had taken place correctly.
« For minimal cost, reliable information can be retrieved, regardless of the place of registration. »
AFTER THAT
Next step? The robotic arm embarks on the Russian launcher Proton for a takeoff scheduled for July 15, 2021 towards the ISS. The TRE35 shock recorder remains on the ground …
