Project Description
The CARMAT bioprosthetic artificial heart
Carmat is the name of the company that fine tuned the first artificial heart. They can be proud of having developed a long-term solution for heart failure, which affects more than 20 million patients in Europe and in the United States. Among this population, hundreds of thousands of people are in terminal phases.
THE MISSION
The Carmat lab contacted Newsteo in order to set up a temperature and humidity monitoring system for all of their clean rooms and controlled temperature storage rooms.
For this, Carmat chose the Newsteo Data Logger models LOG20 and LOG25, with sensors for temperature, humidity and dewpoint temperature calculation integrated. These temperature and humidity data loggers were checked individually in Newsteo’s company laboratory. This metrology service is performed in comparison with a COFRAC-certified reference instrument.
INSTALLATION
The Newsteo Data Logger transmits data to the Newsteo Ethernet which is connected to the laboratory’s internal network. The measurements are then sent through the network to the Newsteo Cloud. The Newsteo Webmonitor web application makes it possible for anyone at Carmat who has a login and password to connect and view the measurements from the network of sensors sending the information.
To provide the best assistance to the laboratory, on-site installation was performed by a Newsteo technician, who was able to optimise positioning of the Data Loggers to maximise radio range. To reach certain storage areas that are further away, radio relays (Newsteo Repeater) were added to the installation.
RESULTS
permanent tracking is ensured
alerts are sent out immediately in the event of a problem
multi-user software allows different people to log in and access data according to their rights
